Rosetta Maria Lucia Panini, Formerly Narcisse - Captain of the Stocks

Starting in 1990, I think, I worked as a food booth supervisor for two years. After getting tired of smelling of Teriaki sauce, I attended academy and worked for Crown Stage for a couple of years, one year as assistant stage manager. My greedy side then took over and for the next 6 years I worked for the Stocks, two years as Captain. The money was good, but I began to want something more and returned to entertainment. My last few years (and the best!) were spent at the Bakery Stage as Rosetta Maria Lucia Panini. Rosetta and her friend Ducky enjoyed interacting with children and playing with her toys. Don't be surprised to see her bouncing through the village again one day!

Ian MacFarlane

A.D. 2003 was my first year at festival living the life of Ian MacFarlane (Itinerant Scottish Musician). Also known as "Squeeky Wheel," I've had the pleasure of being recognized as much for my noisy wheelbarrow (if not more) as for my music. 2004 saw me performing both as Ian and as a Molly Hare. 2005 will be my third season at MRF and the second year that I will have the pleasure of walking the grounds with my lovely Scottish Lass Dawn, who in real life, has become my fiancé. I will be focusing this year again on my solo act. Nothing says "Fall" like festival, and there is no better place on earth to spend it, but in Minnesota with the cast and crew of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. See you at the Faire!

Lee Campbell, Safety Services

I spent about 6 years traveling up and down the state of California working with several different groups performing in smaller renaissance festivals. After moving back to Minnesota and taking a 3 year break, I have now joined the crew of Safety Services at the MRF. And now i realize how much I missed the festival atmosphere.

After 5 years of driving 120 miles one way almost every weekend as a patron, Festival friends convinced me to take part. In 1985, management originally invited me to take clandestine photographs while in costume, but on dress rehearsal weekend, that was changed and I spent my weekends as a wandering street person, telling stories, dispensing buckeyes for good luck, and shivering in the cold, wet, rainy/snowy weather. (Veterans who survived that year will remember it rained almost the entire run, excep! t for the last weekend, when it snowed.) For two seasons after that, I worked in a woodworker's shop, then from 1988-1991 I worked with my friend Delayne Hostetler at her Mayfaire shop. These days, I'm working on the final draft of a vampire novel (with a twist) and looking forward penning to the sequel (to be set at RenFest).

Area of festival worked: Safety Services 91-97. During that time I was blest with working with an excellent team of individuals. EC, TJ, Big Hedge, Little Hedge(gutman), Towns, Cathy, Terry, Dan, Sheri, Sarah, Mark and everyone from those years, Safety Service doing it the old school way. No cuffs, no batons, just nice until it was time to not be nice. Retired from SS after unpleasant incidence with parties to be left unnamed. Now I don a kilt and venture to my indentured servitude at MacGregor games. Continuing to respond people in crisis when the need arises. Once you put on the shiny armor and cape it is tough to tell people no when they ask for assistance. Otherwise I play with the patrons and then leave the booth to play with friends that I have had the honor to know over the years. Some of them involve me in their capers and for that I am eternally grateful.

I started at the MRF in 1985 at the tender age of 18... boy did I grow up fast! I worked then at a game called fight the knight, one of the bash off the log games. I then continued on to work for The Merchants Assistants, The Royal Court, and most recently, as Inga Pia, a street character. My children are little festies also... one weekend a year (they beg to come more... one day). This year I got my boyfriend to come along. You can see him under Cory Hovland. I have loved my years at MRF and the great friends that I have made. It is my favorite "addiction".

Drax Son of Malcom

Well, where do I begin... I started going to the Festival as a patron when I was 3, then I became a playtron in 1997, and now I'm a street prefomer sence 2006. My character, Drax took a while to come up with. First he was this, then that, but each time I chaged him he got closer and closer to what I hoped for. When setled on what he was then the rest was cake. If you don't know who he is, he's that little squire running around always ready for action, you can m! ostlikely find him neer the josting area, food court, and almost anywhere else you could think of. He's a fun character to meet at the Festival. He follows you to places, rows his "invisiable boat around, he'll challege you to contests of skill, and he'll even celebrate your's or one of your friends' birthdays with everyone at the Festival.

I've attended MRF since '91, I've worked at Tall Toad's a couple of those years (performing a terrible skit entitled "squid pajama's" and marching in the parade). Mostly, though, I've just enjoyed the company of the many good and truly skilled/talented friends I've met while "hanging out" with the John & Patty Ryan. Most frequently I am often confused to be John's brother and Patty's "stunt husband" (stepping i! n whenever John is unable to perform the more physical feats of "animal husbandry").

WebMaster's Note:
Kae is a very special person indeed. Many of the pictures on this site owe their appearance to this wonderful woman. With no desire for remuneration, Kae tirelessly shoots hundreds of pictures of the villagers of the MRF and then the following year, she gifts those same denizens with lasting memories of themselves and their friends that they would otherwise never have received.
We are firmly in her debt!

MRFfriends Champion ~ Bronze Level

Meghan Brunner expressed it beautifully:
" Kae~
We are the ones who are blessed. You distill Fest with a camera and sprinkle the results around like Tinkerbell's dust, letting us see the wonder of our home through your eyes. Every photo is a 4x5 glimpse of Magick. I am humbled. I am awed. You're the entire Festival's fairy godmother."

Nancy Christensen, Shop Owner ~ World Portraits by NanC & Nan C Fine Arts, Portraits

Started MRF in 1978 invited as add-on portrait artist at Masquerade. Campfire soup kettles and puppy-piles in the straw! Lots of free-form sharing of music and art amongst each other, especially after hours. I would go from fire to fire, just basking in the magnificent co-creativity of everyone, and have long discussions about the secrets of life.

That first welcoming year gave me the courage to apply on my own the next year, and I have loved every year since! In nearly 30 years, I've only missed four.

I love the intimate setting and focus on the light that beams from within each of you when we enter the relaxed space of the portrait conversation.

The Renaissance was my launching pad for World Portraits touring Alaska, Egypt, Mexico, Paris (doing portraits there), Ireland, Norway, Russia from 1979-1993 Current passion is coordinating artists into the ACE arts program classroom in my N. Florida town, doing live street portraits, giving creative workshops and sharing the "One Hour Portrait Technique" with the NanC Method lesson on DVD!

Stand not where the bus can hit you.

It all started so innocently. My friend Patty Procknow and I attended Festival in 2002. After seeing the costumes Patty convinced me that it would be fun to create costumes and characters for 2003. After that, we were hooked.

We attended in 2003 and 2004 as playtrons and in 2005 badgered our way into Academy intent on improving our characters. While at Academy, David P. noticed we had creativity, people skills, enthusiasm, and absolutely no talent so he put us out on the Street. 2006 is our second year on contract. My character is Lady Sienna Autumn Rivvers of the Province of Monath Sunne. My introduction is, “I be Lady Sienna to mine friends and Rivvers of PMS to mine enemies.” You can easily spot Lady Sienna in the crowd. She wears a “Wyd Lod” sign on the back of her skirt. It’s a Ren Fest take on truth in advertising. I play the betrothed (and abandoned) daughter of the Earl of Monath Sunne. I wander the The Village throughout the day in hopes I can elicit a laugh or two from the bored husbands pacing outside the shops, quell crying toddlers, help lost visitors stay lost and most of all direct the giggling groups of little girls to the current location of our Queen.
