Jennifer Dark,
Mayor's Entourage Comtesse Yvette Lisette Jeanette de Bretagne I started at MRF back in 1988. I loved academy! There, I hooked up with a newly-formed group called Aesop's Fablers. I had purchased a nifty "hawk" mask from a vendor the previous year, and asked them if I could play with patrons at their booth during my breaks. Biff & Kathy Friedlund naturally said, "Yes!" and I was promptly adopted. After a few years, the Aesop's Fablers disbanded and so I joined the Mayor's Entourage. I've been with them ever since, as the French language tutor to the Mayor's children. I just finished my 15th year at MRF ~ Mon dieu!

Tarah Davis, Street Street Bitto Behavin, that's Miss Behavin to you! I started fest last year (2009), as a general character, to get the feel
of how to work with the public. As Bitto, I can be seen anywhere and everywhere,
however, I do enjoy a shady spot, and a grassy area, and basking in the
beauty of nature. I'm mischievous by nature, and enjoy all that fest has
to offer. It upsets me that people feel the need to complain that people
are "too rude" or whatever at fest. If you don't know if they
work at fest, or if they are just a general public person, then you have
no right to complain. Enjoy the experience. My life philosophy is: My
life isn't perfect, so I can't tell you how to live yours; however, I
will share any and all experiences if the right questions are asked! |

Bruce Dehkes, Jr., Stage Act ~ Shakespeares
Love Child Named Best New Act for 2001 Music is my first true love. I've been attending the Renaissance Festival for many, many years. It wasn't until very recently that I was afforded the opportunity to put the two together. In 2001 I joined up with two wonderful people to form Shakespeare's Love Child and were blessed with Best New Stage Act. Since then we have added a fourth member of our group. In 2002, I was a part of a wonderful new comedia group called Arroganti. All I can say to all of this, and all of my new friends at fest is... Thank you. (*insert big smile here*) bdehkes@yahoo.com |

Debra Delmore, Shop Owner
Hi! My daughters Erin and Dacia (day'sha) and I have been shop owners
since 1998 when we opened the Sunrise River Soapmakers shoppe near the
Irish cottage. Erin and I attended the festival academy that year. It
was a FAB experience that helped us understand the hierarchy and inner
workings of the realm. Plus, we met a wildy creative and fun bunch that
we've been hanging around with ever since! We're a bubbly gang of craft
wenches! Our products are heavenly. We handcraft soaps, oils, salts, and
many other luxurious bath and spa products. The first year we were at
renfest, we received an award as best new shop and proudly display it.
We LOVE to have entertainers nearby and are grateful for the fun and,
of course, patrons they attract. |

I started Festival in 1991 full-time with both the Revelers and the Royal
Court . Before that, I was a co-director of the Glastonbury Revelers in
Des Moines (in conjunction with Shakespeare on the Loose) during the three
years prior to moving further north. I was the Court Revelers music
director from 1992-95 and a co-director of the RC during 1996-99. Besides
expanding both the number of singers and the repertoire for the Revelers,
my other mission was to raise the bar for the costuming of the men in
the Court, for which I am proud to say the guys stepped up and met the
challenge. (OK, as a costumer, it didnt hurt my wallet any either.)
My last year as a participant was 1999 and I have since relocated to the
far side of the Rockies, but still find I have a notable hole in my life
that Festival used to occupy. |

Peter DePalma, Former Festie ~ Royal
Court Russian Ambassador, Nicholai Alexi Romulich Romanov, Knight of the Garter I started as an entertainer at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in 1992, but had worked the previous two seasons as a hawker "for rent" with The Hawkers' Workshop with Beth and "Swanie" Swanson. Thanks to a recommendation from Tasha Hardy, I hit the ground running with the royal court. She originally wanted to play a Russian noble with a mini-court. When that fell apart we kept the basic idea and became Nikolai and Anastasia Romanov... I was the Ambassador of the Czar of Muscovy and she was my wife. What developed was a series of silly phrases and antics that kept us (and possibly some of the court) amused. A few seasons later, Tasha and I found new character ideas. Unfortunately, my idea of playing the Royal Astronomer (with the unflattering surname of "Pillock") went no where fast. But luckily for me, the King's squire (Jason Meyer) was itching for a new character near the middle of the season. After talking for a while, we thought we could have some fun if I came back as Nikolai and he joined me as my younger brother. Much to our surprise, not only did we have hours of fun but we also got a lot of attention. The next year Jason and I became very ambitious and wrote a sketch to perform with the royal court. Over the next couple of years our director and King, George Hermann, and other court members (Mike Grogan, Jillion Cardle, and Erin Mattson to name a few) proposed and developed a handful of sketches and bits. In 1999, Jason and I were humbled by our induction into the Royal Order of the Garter. What a wonderful way to retire from the Renaissance Festival. |

I have worked at the fest since 1989. I started out working for Hand
Maid Sweets, selling "the kings nuts". In 2003 I started working
for the Shakopee Jaycees and I've been working there ever since. I have
been known to sing Over-the rainbow in a munchkin voice on occasion. I
live in Mankato, and have two daughters. My youngest daughter Jenny has
been with me out at fest since she was very young. She worked at the juggling
booth, for five seasons. She now attends Macalester college in St. Paul.
My oldest daughter lives and works in Mankato. I have made a lot of friends
over the years, and kept in touch with many festies. |

Mike Devor,
Street ~ Peasant John Moufet, "The Big Mouf", Town Crier Greetings, salutations, and felicitations!!! I prefer to be called Mike. I first participated in MRF in 1987 as a patron, and again in 1989. In 2001 I worked MRF for the first time. Like many, I signed up with CKC out of ignorance of my options. In 2002 I was refeed to Erin Kasper by a nice young lady at a SCA meeting that I attended at the request of a friend. So, I became a 39 year old rookie entertainer. I learned how to sew and made my own costume. I attended Academy 2002, which was great! My character concept was brought about by my observations of the 2001 patrons. I saw a definite need for helping patrons to find what they want as quickly and painlessly as possible. Happy patrons spend money and tip entertainers. This is a good thing. MRF '02 was a wonderful experience for me. Everyday was a total blast and I found a new reason to say, "I love this place!" I have found a significant lack of jerks, and an abundance of neato-keen people amongst those who make MRF rock. Needless-to-say, I have every intention of returning next year in an expanded role of Town Crier. |
