Cassondra O'Brien, Street Ruan MacTíre Ruan MacTíre (pronunced: Rue -- Ann Mick -- Tear -- Ah) I am the
only daughter and youngest child of King Liam ONeill of Ulster,
is oft called Dubh MacTíre because of his darkness. I, myself,
have been blessed by the gods with the lovely red hair of a true Irish
lass (along with many other valuable virtues). Thus, I am called Ruan
MacTíre. (For those of you who cannot speak proper Irish, Ruan
means red.) There are those who say I am as dark as my father
but it is plain for all to see I am as fair and red-haired as ever a lass
could be. Even if there were any truth to such foolishness is it not also
true that every light has with it bit of darkness. Even the moon has its
dark times. The sun itself has times when it is less then bright. Once
I saw it disappear entirely under a druidic spell. So to display a bit
of darkness is only keeping with the natural laws of this world. As King
of Ulster and like many an ONeill before him, my father has declared
himself King of All Ireland. Presently, he is persuading those of Connaught
of the legitimatzy of his claim. With a bit of good fortune and a strong
army, Ireland will soon be blessed with a King as great as Bryan Boru,
himself. In keeping with Irish tradition, my father saw to it that my
studies were provided by some of the best of Irish Druids (in spite of
my best efforts to avoid it). I was schooled in an array of subjects though
I found them either boring or was soon distracted by something more fascinating.
As much as the Druids tried, in the end it was my fathers patience
that was tried the most. At one point, my father decided I should marry.
Being the good daughter I was strongly encouraged to accept a proposal
of a prince from Connaught. According to Brehon law a woman may end a
marriage at the end of one year and a day. For myself and all involved,
it was a very long year. After I claimed my husbands lands, the
Druids ended the marriage and all were happier for it. My father decided
he must find something useful for me to do thus he sent me to recruit
an army of mercenaries for his armies and visit relatives living outside
of Ireland. It was my good fortune to have come upon this village with
its lovely festival. As the ever dutiful daughter, you will find
me roaming the streets looking for mercenaries for my father (and maybe
a wee bit of pleasure for myself). Before I am able to return to Ireland
(and my beloved, County Donegal), I must provide enough mercenaries to
atone for some of the troubles I have caused my dear father. |

Laura Okagaki, Shop Worker ~ MacGregor Games,
Twin Cities Metro Pipe Band Lahanaho, Hawaiian Princess I started working for MacGregor Games in 2004ish. After having been captured from my native Hawai'i by one Captain Cook, I was brought to Europe as a trade bargain. Rescued from slavery, Groomporter took me on as his second wife (the experimental phase wife). Since then, I have been teaching games to anyone who will learn. I am currently waiting upon our divorce so I may become First Exwife. I have most recently been taken in by TCMPB and forced to march and play drums. In real life I am a genetecist working at the U of MN in microbiology
research. I am hoping to start my PhD in Microbiology, Immunology and
Cancer Biology this fall. I performed as a taiko player for several years
until injury forced me into early retirement. Fortunatly, I found a new
way to get my musical mojo moving. This will be my first season with the
Twin Cities Metro Pipe Band for fun and can be found at parades and Highland
Games throughout the season. |

Matthew Olson, Street Dimitri the Mage Dimitri is a recent graduate of Merlin's School of Wizardry so I am educated
and have some money however I need to find a court to join and I understand
that the Prince could use some guidance. You can usually find me wondering
the streets but I do like to keep a close watch on the Arbor as I may
get an opportunity to impress the King. But mostly I find myself impressing
all of the visitors that the arrival of the Royal Court seams to draw. |

Michelle Olson,
Mayor's Entourage Lady Rayne I started at the fest 1990 at the fencing both that was a fun and inticing year that led me to join the street as Rayne in 1991. I also had the pleasure to meet my tremendous husband this year as he worked for the Royal Stocks and we were married in 1995. Rayne was happily adopted into the the Cooper family household as a lost child found amongst the woods and village with her sister Fauna(Michele Kopesky) by the wonderful Lord Mayor in 1992. I then have stayed true to the family Cooper until my own family took priority in 1998. I hope to be returning soon as my young children are a little older and can mange a little more by themselves. |

Patty & Sigurd Olson, Terpsichory Dance Troupe Sigurd and Patty started working with the dance troupe Terpsichory Dance Troupe in 2003 (first year performing at the Minnesota Ren Fest). Sigurd is one of the dancers while, for the moment, Patty plays the flute for the dance troupe. Our characters are of noble blood so they dress to the part. Rowan is always seen with her custom made flute case strapped to her back and always escorted by her husband Alisdar (tall, red haired gentleman). Since we both perform with the dance troupe Terpsichory Dance Troupe, we can be seen performing on the stages the Bear Stage and the Unicorn Stage. Sigurd and Patty are both part time students. Sigurd is studying computer animation while Patty is studying web design and graphic design. Rowan and Alisdar's families were of English noble blood. Their families met in Ireland where their summer home properties were near each other. Rowan's mother became pregnant around the same time as Alisdar's mother. Since they were already good friends, they both hoped that one of them would have a boy and the other would have a girl. That way their families would be joined through the marriage of their children. Their wishes came true when Alisdar and Rowan were born. Rowan's name came from the name of a local tree that was said to have powers while Alisdar was named after his great grandfather. Since the parents wanted the children to get along, they were pushed together to play during the summer while in Ireland. Rowan, at an early age started acting like a tomboy and wanted to learn the ways of men (sword fighting, hand to hand combat, etc.). Unfortunately, her mother wanted a delicate and dainty daughter. So she started her up on music lessons. Rowan's mother thought that playing a feminine instrument like the flute would be able to make her feminine. Since Rowan and Alisdar were friends from the time that they were young,
she went to Alisdar for help. So, behind her parent's back, Alisdar taught
Rowan how to fight with her hands and with a sword. Unfortunately, Rowan's
mother noticed that the music lessons weren't working in making her feminine.
So, while taking with a friend, Rowan's mother was suggested to send her
off for dancing lessons. She figured that that would be the best way to
make her act like a lady. Rowan refused to leave behind her childhood
friend. Since Rowan and Alisdar were already betrothed for marriage, both
parents decided to send their children to Italy to study under a well-known
Italian dance master Isidoro. Alisdar and Rowan had finally found their
place. The other students who studied under Isidoro were just like them
and they felt at home. In fact, the only time that they returned to their
parents' homes was to be married. As a wedding present, Alisdar's parents
gave them one of their properties in Ireland where they live, occasionally.
Half the time they tour with their dance group. Rowan also plays her flute
for the dance troupe to help provide music for her husband to dance to. |

Needleworthy's, Royal Paws, Ye Olde Bath Shope, and Oh Susanna's Leather Legs I started working out at festival last year (2006), and worked again
this year (2007). My character's name was given to her from Irish Cottage.
My boyfriend and I were visiting there when a man walked into the cottage
in the middle of introductions. When we were introduced to him, he simply,
and almost eagerly, stated "yeah, you're the one with the legs from
Wisconsin." Everyone laughed. My character outfit changes according
to my mood, and i am hoping to add more to the outfit as time goes on,
but the only pic i have right now is the old one with the leather buckle
boots and bodice, and the crushed velvet black dress with red lace on
the inside of the sleaves. As for me, I have two jobs currently outside
of fest and may be switching one shortly. I am dating Chris (the manager
of Son of Sandlar), and have been for the last two years. I am a Pool
Deck Supervisor at Lifetime Fitness, and am having a great time with it.
