Minrod Mier, Street ~ Peasant
Minrod the Barber

Originally started back in 1979 with the rest of those idiots who were doing the Fest and St Cloud State at that time. Went off to the 'real world' in 1985, then got sucked back in 2007 with his daughter Miranda (who is a Teeny Panini at the Bakery Stage) and they're still there in 2008. Minrod - also known as the "guy in the red hat" - or "the guy who couldn't come up with a better character name than his real name" - works as a Commercial Credit Guy by day and writes and directs community theatre by night. One of his original plays "The Bitter Festie Play" loosely based on MRF was shown at the MACT One Act Play Festival and the Fringe Festival a few years later. He would like every MRF Friend who is interested in doing a show where "the audience sits, paying attention, in comfy chairs, in dark" to audition for his next show. He wants everyone else to come see them! Minrod was knighted in 1980 when he won the one and only Lead Potato at the Peasant Games. He can be found somewhere on the site, annoying people.

Nan A. S. Miller, Court Revelers
Dame Nankins, formerly of the Abbey of Columba

I started the show about 1991, as a usual suspect at King of the Log, in 2000 I joined the Court Revelers. In 2001 I became the acting director of the Festival Court Revelers, and am the current musical director of the Court Revelers. My character, Dame Nankins, is a recovering (read runaway) nun from the Abbey of Columba, who found Rome too conservative. She is literate, well educated, and loves a good laugh (doesn't have a good time with the rule about silence). I can be seen at Fest in the Feast hall, on the balcony at Bad Manor singing, at the pub near the Bear, or at the pub supposedly known as the Queen's pub (although as of 8/29/01 it had no sign to that effect) (a.k.a. the pub in Burnsville) pub crawling with the revelers.

Steffen Moeller, Morris Dancers
The Cute (Young) Morris Dancer

Not really a character name, more a statement of fact. I've been dancing with MTM since the 2001 season, though I've been a part of the Twin Cities Morris Community all my life. My father was an MTM'er before me, and I spent at least one weekend every year of my life out at Fest. That is, until the 2000 season where I spent every weekend out in the village. During the 2002 season, I split my time between being a Morris Dancer, and a Pub Kin. While in retrospect this was not a wise decision, I was young and stupid at the time and thought I could manage it. It was fun, but I decided that being a Morris Dancer is what I prefer to be.

Angelique Montag, Street and The Riddle Booth
Maiglocke von Drachental

My experience with Fest began as a patron one day   in '97. Within two months I had made myself a costume and moved to Minnesota. I started marching in the parades and signed up as a Queen’s Tea server, just so I wouldn’t have to buy a season pass. (I had missed auditions.) I wanted to attend academy for a week or two to learn about Fest. Next thing I knew, I was an entertainer and extremely grateful for this twist of fate. My character, Maiglocke von Drachental (Lily of the valley from Dragon valley), is the daughter of a wealthy merchant/craftsman from the Black Forest of Germany, sent to "the Village" to learn English. Except for a few stories, I only speak German. My translator, Lily, speaks English when absolutely necessary. I can be seen skipping throughout the Realm, reciting German poetry to hapless victims, I mean patrons, or playing with the Mayor’s balls. I can also be seen around the Pavilion during beer/wine tastings. Where else would a good German girl be? My character also has a twin sister, Efeu (Ivy), who is a Landsknecht. I was honored to be nominated for Best New Entertainer (foreign category, with subtitles). Please don’t be afraid to talk to me if you don’t speak German. Ve haf vays off makingk you undershtand. Ja, genau! Aufwiedersehen!  O : - )

1993-1998 Playtron - I came every year in costume with a group of my friends, and couldn't wait to find a way to work at the Festival.

1999-2002 The Children's Trilogy - I ran into a friend who already worked at the booth, she brought me out to work for 1 weekend and I ended up there for 4 years.

2003-2005 Children's Games - I moved all the way to the booth next door and I hope to stay for years to come.

Amy Muldoon, Stage Act ~ Royal Scottish Country Dance Society
Coquetta Moneypenny

I am one of over forty performing members of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, a dancing stage act at Fest. None of us have character names or titles (although in the past some of us have come up with silly, unofficial ones for ourselves.) Our group does four performances each day plus the parade. Our main areas are Shepherd's Green, Bad Manor Meadow, and the Bear (Bare) Stage.
I have been dancing with the RSCDS at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on and off since 1998. I am also a Morris dancer with the Bells of the North and have performed with them at Fest at the invitation of Minnesota Traditional Morris. My husband is a Morris man (go figure!) I also enjoy swing dancing. I have two Welsh Corgis and play the melodeon.

Brian Murphy, Royal Court& Stage ~ The Riddle Booth
William Shakespeare, Knight of the Garter

As some o' th' elder of ye may recall, betimes I trod our village lanes as that immoral, er, immortal bard of Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare. For two years span, alas, I gave him o'er to favour other sorts. Bold Sir Jack Falstaff, all padded out before, was e'er to hot to keep his bluster up, and Squint, for all his simple, fustian and o'erweening lechery was too ill-fitted to his company. Ergo, cry folly to the wind, it seemeth meet to me that this poor player, the Swan of Avon should once more in our midst be seen unfolding ready wit and verses rare, provoking mickle mirth withal. "All the world's a stage I'm going through."

Jeffrey Myers, Playtron
Charts or Jeffrey Archer

I am a playtron however I've been in costume for the last 15 years and have been a season pass holder for at the least past 12 years. I am a member of the playtron group the Bloodwake Pirates and hold the position of navigator. I can be seen at Mac's Pub usually in green and black, Celtic camouflage I like to call it.
