Brian Godel, Terpsichory Dance Troupe
James of the Dragons Feather

I've been going to Ren. Fest. almost every year since I was a little kid. In '98, my rookie year, I was presented with the opportunity to join the dance troupe Terpsichory in its rookie year (ok so I have a hard time resisting beautiful women yelling "we need men"). I have been actively working in the troupe ever since, and will probably continue to do so until the women of Terpsichory deem someone else the 'male sex symbol' of the dance! troupe. };-)

I was slowly sucked into the Renaissance Festival family when I began working in the costume shop the summer of '98. The following year I went through academy, worked the streets as Gilly Bracken, and was an alternate on the stocks. I spent the following summer (of 2000) co-running the costume shop, as they were looking for a seasonal stand-in that year. But missing the atmosphere of performance, I jumped on board when Tim Wick announced his plan of starting up Mac's Pub. And there I found my home at the festival. I love being peasantry. We can sit anywhere, eat anything, and wipe our hands off on our clothes, lord love ya. I began participating in Vilification Tennis the same year I joined the Pub Kin (the resident Irish family at Mac's Pub), and am on the Vil Team usually referred to as "Molly and Ian". We had a name once, but Tim could never remember it. Thus we are and ever shall be "Molly and Ian."

in transition (working on a new character for next year, but was Miles Knots, Navigator of the Portobello Rose in 2006)

2006 was my rookie year at MRF. I filled in as guitar player and background vocals for the Pyrates of Portobello (www.theatreofthenorth.com) as the often lost navigator Miles Knots (thank you Jim Jordan and Dave Zenz for the opportunity). We were a gridded show (5-6 shows daily) as well as playing for the wine tasting. I played at the morning gate to greet the best patrons in the world. I also made a number of appearances at shops, at the Irish cottage (thank you Maggie), and even played for the queen herself. Fest nights ended at the pub sing where I joined the Troll as a trollite for a jam to close out the day! It was a fantastic experience. I knew that I had to come back. I will be returning in 2007 with Graham Leathers and Becca (Allen) Leathers to perform as a trio. If you know Becca or Graham, you know that I am really fortunate to join them. See you in 2007!

I'm 13 and have been in festival since 2003 and I'm now going into 8th grade. I have 3 cats, one is mine. His name is Muddy. My favorite animal is a turtle and my favorite color is green (go well nicely don't they?). I work out at the Bakery Stage, with the Broadside Pirates (I'm a powder monkey/cabin boy), and I work with puppets. I'm a Harry Potter freak (if you want to discuss the new book I've read it). I play percussion and pretty well on drum set. I'm the Vice President of S.P.A. I'm only related to my sister biologically. Now I'm going to do other things. Hope you know more about me, Heather

Mistress Spicer (today Mistress Cinnamon Spicer, tomorrow Mistress Saffron Spicer, etc...)

An only child of a widowed spice merchant, my father raised me to run the business side of his small empire. Prior to his death he arranged my marriage to his even more successful apprentice. Although Master Gregory has managed to "secure" me additional wealth and holdings, he has only presented me with daughters and not the title for which I have aspirations. I spend my days balancing the ledgers (the reason our acquisitions stay acquisitions) and attempting to arrange suitable marriages for my daughters to men of title. Now, if I could but keep the eldest from the Maypole festivities and my youngest from seeking to be rescued by her "real" family - the lunatics! I can be found in black and sparkling silver in the company of mine husband attending the village celebration. "A purveyor am I of fine spices and fragrances... let me begin with my daughters, Amber Rose and Heather Rosemary!"

I have 4 personas (I like to switch things up a bit)
* Lady Inga Greeves - my street character for fest 2010
* Viscountess Inga Graves
* Serena - The Good Fairy
* Fauna Foxbee the Fractured Fairy

I started fest in 1996 when I was 19. The first few years I came in mundane clothes. I eventually started coming in garb first as a peasant than worked my way up the social ladder. I also enjoy my fairy personas. I came up with Fauna 3 yrs ago and Serena this year. All depends on the weather what come as.
Lady Inga Greeves is my newest persona. She has been married 10 years and is childless - which has started to drive her mad.. She and her husband are upper class jewelry merchants. He is constantly away at sea looking for gems and gold to bring back to London.

Lady Inga has traveled to shire to celebrate the harvest with the King and Queen. She has brought with her her "children," Henry - a bird and Elizabeth - a cat. They cling to her shoulders as if in fear of being separated from their "mother." Lady Inga can be seen wandering the streets of the village- talking to her "children". On occasion she can also be seen walking the lanes with her nieces and fairies.

As for my mundane life - My husband and I live in Coon Rapids, MN. We have been married for 10 yrs. Lee is a high school science teacher in St. Francis, MN. I am in the process of starting my own jewelry business. I currently have product on Etsy.com. I am also finishing my Master's degree in Management and Organizational Development.

Justin came to the Renaissance Festival in the early 1990's on the school trip and fell in love with it after that day. It took until 2001 for him to be able to go back, though; and he was a playtron until the Fencing Booth took him in in 2006.

Carrie Green, Shakopee Jaycees

Back in 1992 I was fourteen just getting my first job, a good friend of mine told me she was going to get one at the renaissance festival and asked me to apply. Although I did work my first few years in CKC I was able to still get the feel of that special festival magic. I then moved on to working for games and now to selling beer (for the Shakopee Jaycees) which is now what I do for a living outside of fair as well.

2004 was my first year working out at the Renaissance Festival. I graduated in May from NDSU in Fargo (my hometown) with a BA in Mass Communications with a public relations emphasis. Bryan Griffith, Stage Act ~ Morris Dancers
Hugh Riley MacElkins

Started in 1998 Playing for Tersichory and the Moll Hares were born. We went through a lot of changes, the Hares did. People came and left. It was fun, but the ride had to end at some point, so after the 2006 season the Hares packed it in. I'd like a reunuion at some point, but who knows?

As for my alter ego, Hugh, he also has gone through changes. Every year the outfit got fancier and, thanks to the King of France, Hugh spoted a title, The Baron Le Chabanais, which was bestowed on him in 2003 by Good King Henry. But Hugh will remain, at the core, the same fun-loving, music making, poetry spouting, romantic, appreciator-of-beautiful-women, he has always been. Never one to stand on ceremony, I'm sure whether you address him as "Baron", "Your Lordship", or just plain old "Hey Hugh"- he'll answer pretty much the same. Hugh seldom makes it out anymore, but on occasion he does come out and do his thing.

Now I'm Morris Dancer. Starting in 2007(?) Dressed in white with my green MTM baldric, I'm doing at fest what I've loved doing outside of it for about 15 years. One of my most exciting moments at fest has been to lead the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance through the fest grounds as we do our bit, helping to add to the blessing of this complex, and lovely place.

Dara Grimmer, Stage Act ~ Cigany
Via (Mama Via)

I started festival “officially” in 1996. That year I assisted the entertainment director. Even with my limited exposure to the management side of workings of the fest, I realized the amount of effort it takes to put forth this show. The greatest joy I had as the assistant was meeting the entertainers. I have since moved on to being a full-time street entertainer myself. My character, Alvany, is a belly-dancer by trade. Portraying a gypsy has been wonderful, and I hope to interact with as many of you as possible.

As of 2010 have survived 15 years at MRF in many different aspects. the last 3 years have been the most exciting for me as a character. In 2008 fest set me loose on the street to play and explore and explore I did. in 2009 I was asked by Carr to work in this funny "enchanted turtle" thingy. at first I was like "are you kidding" then I hopped in and the first patron that walked by I scared the daylights out of with the puppet....Needless to say I was hooked. I was shocked and blessed to be nominated at the end of the season for "best new act by a Vet" 2010 found Rocky with no home (the turtle ran away) so, I hit the streets and started working front gate. Now I am hooked. I enjoy working with that crew and look forward to many more rewarding years with them.

I am a knight of the realm, knighted by King Henry(George H.) I am on Site Crew, I also am a sales person for Sharon Crystal on the weekends. I started working fest in 1983 working for Bill Lochen at the stocks. I am something of a historian, as I hope you could see by the reasonably accurate sets of clothes that i wear. I am usually dressed as a business person-in 16th century Europe my family ran a maltshaus, milling and malting grain for the making of beer and liquor, and purchased an enoblement from the Holy Roman Emperor. So most of my clothing reflects that time and status. I also have a set of clothes as a landsknecht-a 16th century soldier, and clothing from the 13th or 14th century.
