~ Former Festie, Duchesses of Doom Duchess of Mayhaim ~ Tasbien, Gerbil, Lady Rae'ven, Lady Piper
I've been going to fest as long as I can remember. But started work in 1989. Worked at a booth called Magical Scents and Potions. Next year I worked at the Track. Next 2 or three years I worked both Track and Front gate. Took a few years off and then worked in the Children's realm. Otherwise I've been a Playtron. As of this year, 2002, two of my friends and I are going to be wandering around as the Dutchesses of Doom. Look for three women in mostly black with veils. One will be a tall redhead, then there will be a petite but average height blonde, then there's me. I'd be the short brunette. The only people shorter than me are kids. (it's sad, I know) If things go well this year, we are hoping to audition. Heck, if things go well this year, we would be interested in working. |

Dawn Reed; Former Festie, Street Mary Tales I started at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in 1993. That year I was the stage manager at Witchwood Stage. The next year I freed myself from the constraints of stagemanagerhood and appeared as Mary Tales storyteller extrodinaire. I was quite popular with kids, but many folks (grown up types) might not have seen me. I do have many fond memories of telling stories at the Irish cottage though. That lasted for three seasons and then I took the well known "year off", but once it gets into your blood its hard not being out at Festival. Aah the siren call... So this past season I found myself fighting in the Chess Match. I was the one with the SPOON! I also spent time working for Kat in the Hat, and reprised Mary Tales at the morning Fables at the Table. I have recently moved to New York to pursue my dream of theater. |

Sandra Reeves , Shop Worker My parents first dragged us kids to Fest in '95, and I've been here ever
since. Worked for the Jaycees in their Little Shack on the Parking Lot
from '96 thru '00, then became the Shop Rodent for Mr. O'Brien at Magickally
Intertwined until '04. Where I'll end up next? No one knows. |

Paul Regge, Musician ~ Bedlam Way way back when the moon was still young (or so it seems) I chanced to perform w/ Madison Celtic Renaissance Consort at the Minnesota Ren Fest (1977, told you the moon was young). As a group, we only performed for two or three weekends a year in 1977 and 1978. In 1978, we (MCRC) started working at King Richard's Fair (now Bristle). I performed with both the group and solo until 1986, at which time I moved to the Twin Cities in search of a paycheck (the search goes on). In 1987, I performed at MRF for the first time since '78 with Clan Tartan. John Gladman, who also was performing with that group, was doubling up his load by "replacing" Steven Brust in Bedlam. At that time, Big John Sjogren was out for at least one weekend for some other obligation. John Gladman asked the rest of Bedlam if I could fill in while Johnny was gone. When Big John returned, he seemed a bit sceptical about an additional player in the group. To date, this is my 16th year of trial period..... Maybe I'll get a contract next year! |

Brent Reichow, Deputy Director of Safety
Services
I began working at the festival in 1997 as the junior EMT. I must have done a few things right since I was awarded Officer of the Year '97. In 1998 I became the Deputy Director under the newly joined SS and Security teams (don't ask why they were ever split up.) Since then, I have had the privilege to lead the finest team of officers I have ever known. I am extremely proud of my team in their abilities to get the job done swiftly and properly without undue process. In '99, Scott County Sheriffs called us '...the best little police force they have ever worked with.' I have watched this outfit go from a band of first year rookies ('96 saw a major turnover...) to a disciplined and well trained group of professionals versed in their profession and certified in the tools they carry. Your safety has always been our priority, and it has been our pleasure to serve you. |

Jarynn Rice, Street I first visited the Renaissance Festival in 2002. I loved it so much I attended it more and more in 2003 & 2004. I finally decided to become an entertainer out there by joining Terp Sichory Courtly Dance Troupe in 2005. From 2006-2008 I was one of the Ladies of the Dias cheering on the knights at the joust games and matches. In 2009, I started doing street and am still seen wondering around. shopping or going to different shows laughing out loud. I love working at the Renaissance Festival and hope to see more and more
people come out there every year |

Laurie Richardson,
Street, Vilification Tennis,
Front Gate and Stocks~ Peasant Ethel They told me in academy that my character should be based on something
I could easily identify with. Luckily, I have extensive experience in
being very dorky and wanting to sit at the cool kids' lunch table, but
ending up eating alone in the choir room instead. Ethel, the village's
nerd, has a really neat sundial wristwatch, an inhaler, and a -12 charisma
level. |

Ren M. Riga, Games Worker
I started festival in 1992 at the Fencing booth. I worked there for a
couple of years, then moved over to the Juggling Center. After two years
there I went back to the Fencing booth until I joined Reve du Faun. I
sang with them for two years until I moved to NY. I spent 3 years in NY,
but made it back to Fest for at least one or two weekends every year (working
back at the Fencing booth). Now I live back in MN and am at the Fencing
Booth again. |

Robert Riggs, Playtron Robert Macdonald of the Clan MacDonald. I also appear as a noble, Lord Hatter. I am not employed at MRF. I am often found hawking for my good friends
at Tooling Around, in the Narrows. If I am not there very likely a pub
has caught my attention. I first attended MRF in 1977. Yes I am old. I
attended sporadically until 1987 when I met my bride, Tina and took her
to festival. She fell in love with the festival and me. We have been regular
attendees ever since. The past few years every day, even kids Friday.
Have been married since 1989. Together we have 4 children, all grown.
We live in Rochester, Tina an Administrative Assistant and I work in Social
Services. Our lives have various seasons during the year. Gardening season,
Canoeing season, RENFEST SEASON, Wine tasting season. Good thing for Wine
Tasting, since we would be at a loss during the cold months. |
