Katherine Mead,
Safety Services
From 2003 to 2008 I worked for Safety Services. Safety Services was
a great job. Every year was a blast, massaging hands wherever I went.
Lots of great friendships from crafters to the entertainers were made.
I learned alot and bought alot. Take care. |

Theresa-Marie Dorsey Meis, Street I'm currently working in St. Cloud and living on a farm in rural Minnesota
with my love, Chris Meis (aka Chrysto)--and our pups, Angel & Sebastian.
My character is a crusty OLD lady who moves much like the Mystics from
the Dark Crystal (in other words, SLOW!). She has a Romanian accent and
a home base with the Gypsies, though she will spend most of her time wandering.
She isn't cruel but will spit on (more like "at," unless the
wind takes it) you if you insult her. My crone's name is Crone. It just
makes sense that she's so old everyone has forgotten her name. Oh, and
if you do nice things for the Crone, she won't curse you! The Crone is
very fond of chocolates and hard cider :) But due to her age and health
concerns, I will be consuming all edible and imbibable gifts in her stead.

David Mendez, Assistant Curator, Folkstone
Hall a.k.a. The Museum Juan (for in the end, There can be only Juan), Juan the Wicked Juan is the only Spaniard you'll find at festival that speaks with a
Scottish accent. His parents, you see, were migrant shepherds. :) My first
year was spent as a hawker for Kat in the Hat (anyone remember a really
loud guy in '95?) I moved on to the museum and have worked there ever
since. You can usually find me in the BLT Fridays & Saturdays after
10p.m., in the Museum Gift Shoppe, in a display case (funny story behind
this one!) helping staggering Festies (hi, Shannon) or watching vilification
tennis on the let's-get-fired day. Most people, when they see me remember
that line from Desperado "in walks the biggest Mexican I have ever
seen, big as shit!" I chose the nickname Chihuahua (short for 'The
Biggest Damned Chihuahua at the MN Renaissance Festival') because I kept
running into too many David's on site. I'm a make-up artist, percussionist
in a band. I'm a make-up artist with the Ramsey County Fright Farm Haunted
House, and I'm always open for a game of chess! In 1999 I married the
love of my life in Folkstone Hall. We've had our ups & downs but are
still standing, shoulder to shoulder. I love my fest family, you're all
wonderful! A special thank you to David Bryce for the job & my home
at Feat all these years. My experiences with you all are times I'll never
forget! mrfchihuahua@yahoo.com

Meysembourg, Manager for King of the Crowns Corinna By chance, I started working at MNRF in 2001 when a friend from high school had a bad reaction to some medication she was taking and asked me to fill in for her on the first Sunday of the run. Our boss didn't quite know what to do with this strange girl he hadn't even hired in the first place, but he put me to work, and it seems to have worked out well, as he has told me that I'll always have a job with All Pun and Games should I wish one. The following year I joined cast as part of Terpsichory Dance Troupe, and spent three years with them, dancing in heavy clothing in all weather. I also served as an extra with the late, great CappaFerro Productions on the Human Combat Chess board. After the 2004 season I hit the road, working at TRF with John Coiner Pottery, and at the Arizona show at The Chocolate Makers. I then came back to Minnesota to dance a final year with Terpsichory. At present, my season is: Arizona (Chocolate Makers, manager, kitchen booth); Scarborough (All Pun and Games, gamer, Sliding Joust); Colorado-Minnesota-Texas (King of the Crowns, Manager). Though clearly my involvement in Renaissance Faires has become more money-oriented
of late, I still firmly believe in the magic, joy, and wonder that so
many come to Faire to find. Faire has days that are not as good as others,
but by the end of the day, no matter what the day, you should have put
a smile on many faces (and that includes your own!). asthran at yahoo dot com |
