New on MRFfriends

This list was recently supplied by Dan Horsfall of the Information booth. It is by no means exhaustive we know but does bring back fond memories. ahhhhh, pesto focaccia....

The old coin stamper, dates to the early 80s. A structure made of black 4x4s, maybe twice as tall (10-12 feet?) as what the guys in the tent have now, located kind of where the current info booth is. Cast wore black robes, like monks. Took a long time to stamp a coin, 'cuz two people had to really crank for a while to raise the weight up to the top of the contraption. Footings rotted off, became unsafe and unstable. Some of our current cast are in the same shape.

The original Dueling Buckets, 1980-1984, on top of the rise where the Pavilion is now. Jonathan Association and Chaska Civic Theatre ran it jointly for five years before CCT asked for "an inside job" and got Info. Like the coin press, the pine trees on which it was built simply rotted away and the structure became unstable.

St. John's Bread, and the "monks" of St. John's University. Think their main booth was where Tower Lemonade is now. We still get several requests each year for this; our standard answer is "the monks are gone, but the bread is still here..."

Sauerkraut balls. Thank goodness for that one. We probably shouldn't ever -start- on the foods (and food independents) that have gone away. We miss the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce and their original Baron of Beef, and Old World Bakery with their garlic and pesto focaccia bread.
